Our Community Schools initiative brought two food distributions to Anderson and Smith elementary schools in March, reflecting our district’s commitment to supporting the whole child and addressing the broader needs of our families.

Lawndale Elementary School District is proud to be recognized as a State SARB Model Program—1 of only 13 districts in the entire state of California and the only district in Los Angeles County with this distinction!

Our staff, including district leaders, community liaisons, and community school coordinators, along with our parents, attended the annual CAAASA Summit to learn, share best practices, and explore ways to expand our equity efforts and support our students.

Our English Language Instructional Resource Teachers (ELIRTs) from Anderson, Roosevelt, Rogers, and Twain, along with our Common Core TOSA, proudly presented at CABE 2026. Their sessions highlighted the powerful instructional practices our district uses to support students from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds.

Lawndale Elementary School District is proud to announce that Lawndale Elementary School District has been named a Model School Attendance Review Board (SARB) recipient for 2026 by the California Department of Education. We are 1 out of 13 school districts to receive the award!

District and school staff, along with parent leaders, recently visited the LBUSD Center of Black Student Excellence. During the visit, they had the opportunity to explore the center’s programs and resources, observe best practices in action, and gather ideas for supporting student success in our own schools.

Throughout February, schools across the Lawndale Elementary School District came together to celebrate Black History Month through meaningful learning experiences that honored the achievements and contributions of Black leaders past and present.

This February, Lawndale's Special Needs Family Support Group hosted its first public resource fair at our Kit-Carson campus. Families had the chance to learn about local resources from partner organizations, including Providence, ADDAP, SALA International Women Organization, Department of Mental Health, WIC, Vista Community Clinic, Ball & Faith, Westsude Regional Center, Richstone Family Center, and the South Bay Center for Counseling.
